Mor Ignatius Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Cathedral Dubai

MIWA

Mor Ignatius Women's Association (M.I.W.A.)

Mor Ignatius Women's Association started with a few members and today it has many who along with the other spiritual organizations of the church, march forward with the concept of serving the poor and the needy and facilitate unity and spiritual growth among the women of our church. The Association also takes an active part in the various activities of the church.

In June 1992, the dream of the women members of our parish became a reality when Mor Ignatius Women's Association was formed under the guidance of the vicar, Rev. Fr. Prasad Kuruvilla and was named after our patron saint and spiritual father H.H. Moran Mor Ignatius Elias III Bava.

Activities :

  • Conduct prayer meetings : Prayer meetings are conducted in the church after the church services. These spiritual gatherings give us an opportunity to know each other, share Bible messages, study classes, songs and special prayers especially intercessory prayers to Mother Mary. These meetings mainly focus on the role of a woman in a family.
  • Visiting the needy : We visit those who are sick or in some kind of distress or difficulty in life and offer support and prayers.
  • Providing refreshments : Since our church is located away from the city it is difficult to access any restaurants or food outlets. We conduct a food stall every Friday after the church service and the profit from the stall is used for charity purposes.
  • Participation in church activities : The Women's Association enthusiastically participates in church activities like preparing food, X'mas programme, church bazaar, picnic etc. We were also able to lend a helping hand financially at the time of church construction by sponsoring one of the Madbahas in Mother Mary's name. Generally speaking we participate in all church activities.
Conclusion :

We pray that the intercession of Virgin Mother Mary, our Patron Saint Elias Bava and all our saints continue to be with us to carry out our little share of activities in lending a helping hand in whichever way possible. Above all we thank and praise the Almighty for bestowing His blessings upon us and we join the Psalmist in praising Him because with His strength, He strengthens us ....
